The welfare of employees is connected with the overall performance/profitability of Pakistan Railway. It is not acceptable to increase the expenses without turning over the performance of Railways. At present PR needs plans to control/curtail expenses rather asking for increase. You said the current IG is competent and responsible officer. If he is, then instead of proposing increase in manpower and raise in salaries, he should work on reduction in expenses of his department and draw plans for optimum utilization of the existing manpower. If the employees are not satisfied they should find another job. The quality of comments of your reporters and strong recommendation for the approval of the proposed increase in the budget of railway police is evident either lack of their knowledge or ill preparedness on this subject. PTI government has curtailed its expenses at province and federal level. If this IG police is competent, then he should concentrate on better utilization of existing manpower. Increase in manpower and salaries is justified only when PR can afford on its own. Instead of wasting his time and energy, the minister should work on curtailing the expenses by increasing the efficiency of existing workforce and privatize passenger trains. Concentrate more on cargo trains, PR railway share in cargo transportation is the lowers compared to other countries in this region.
